Border crossing was easier then I expected. I guess it’s still „Der Alte Ossi“ in me, who is kind of scarred if he sees a border.

Yep, of curse as soon as I drove into this „thingie“, the alarm sound and the red lights flashing. Hm, what this means? Oh, I have to go to the „search area“. Lucky me! „Please unpack the moto.“, said the boarder guard. It could be worst, this two nice Senoritas did a good and stress free job. Clearance, „You can go.“

After the procedure, I asked where the immigration office is for my tourist visa? Both looked at me a little bit puzzled because usual you go first before you cross the line. LoL, „Park your moto outside on the street and go back on the other side.“ OK, parked the moto and went back over the border to do the first step. That’s it. No problems there, even nobody cares that I put my birthdate in, where I have to sign the paper. Afterwards I realized, I could just move on and nobody had seen my passport or something else, nobody really requested anything. Lucky me, the alarm went on and I had to stop.

Surprisingly the landscape is not much different for the first few …. hundred kilometer. Hm, California is just the northern part of Mexico. What change suddenly is the shape/look of the villages/towns, the traffic, surprisingly the language and the smell. I’m not sure but in the bigger towns (till now I passed thru one), it looks like in any other North American town, Wal-Mart, McDonald’s, Burger K……….

When I came back to the Pacific Ocean, the landscape and the vegetation started to change. I think here is it where the real Mexico begins. This is really different ……

…. and the vegetation start to changed ….

…. and this is something, I should get used to. Military road checks. Today I had already two on my way south. Till now, just a waving thru ….

…. also I wasn’t able to get how it works with road signs like this ….

…. it means, turn right next exit and then 20km or it means turn right in 20km. There wasn’t any road soon and also no additional sign the next 20km. I’m puzzled! Lucky me, I have still a few days left to it figure out My next special appointment is on June 27th in Mazatlan, till then I will get it …. maybe!
