No, it isn’t so cold like I expected. The last two days it was hot again and we did the last three days almost 900 km south from Tulcán to Machala.

We left Tulcan and rod to Santo Domingo. Shortly before Quito, we crossed the Equator, there I was the first time in the Southern Hemisphere.

Shortly after we passed Quito, we had some trouble. Sebastian’s bike wont go further. The cable for the clutch broke. Damn. We need two hours and some “Hirnschmalz” to get the bike running. Repair at 3000m, 12 degree and light rain. Now his Africa Twin has an BMW part.

Of course it was already dark when we finished. Return to Quito or forward to looking for an place to stay? Of course forward, just 100km left to Santo Domingo. Driving in the night, light rain, from 3000m down to 600m. Not funny! At least the rain stopped and the temperature raised.

One night in Santo Domingo and we moved on to Guayaquil.

Our plan was to stay two days in Santo Domingo. We changed this, just too expansive. We arrived relative early and wasted the afternoon to search for an affordable hotel. At least we found something not too expensive but without parking for the bikes. Our motos has to stay a bit further down the road at a secured private parking lot. Belief me, not funny!

Today, it was a day I want to call easy and relaxed. After a short ride we arrived in Machala. Even I was able to enjoy the things on the road side, like ….

…. because not usual for our eyes ….

…. “On the Run” ? ….

…. I cannot belief, but BANANAS! ….

…. and Banana “plants”, I can belief ….

…. also this creative retorno in Muchala ….

…. even in town there is some unusual creative ways to make a living ….

…. or bringing some color into town.

So, now we relative close to our last border. Peru is not far anymore. Probably in two days we will be in Peru and …. 🙁 …. I will be closer to reach my goal …. 🙂 …. Lima.
